Hi just curious to know how do people preview there stream to make sure it is all working, or do you just stream and hope it works. Does anyone use the twitch dashboard or use a laptop with the stream on or console or a different way. Wondering if there are any good way to check when live.

For me if I start the stream and I do not see any frame drops in OBS then its all fine, also I check a tiny few seconds on Twitch Dashboard to see if my stream loads up, if it does then I simply close it.

Although I do use a software called Snaz which has a Twitch tab which shows how many are viewing your stream, change title and game playing + popout chat button, it does show when you are online/streaming too so that helps on knowing that the stream is working.

I use a dual pc setup, but you could do the same with two monitors or a laptop (use ethernet though.) I test stream through twitch dashboard with a program like uningine valley for a couple loops, title and mark the stream as 'not playing,' then watch my bitrates, cpu load, temperatures, and video performance. definitely want to make sure you aren't spamming the hell out of the ingest servers with crazy bitrates (you want to stay right around 3.5k bitrate if you aren't partnered).

Ok cheers guys so you don't really use the twitch preview in the dashboard for very long. Iv been using it to check my stream but seems to buffer when I watch it, is that normal as it's on same connection or not good. Using 1500 bitrate 720p 30fps my upload is 21mb and jvt ping is sayins 10000+ for every sever in eu.

Is it worth me just trying opening dash to check stream startsvthen close it and just have chat open, whether me watching my stream in the dash and seeing it buffering is just me and it turns out to actually be working. What would you recommend as YouTube gaming works amazing I can do 1080p 60fps 5000 bitrate no issues twitch at 1800 720p 30fps in dash buffering.
