HOW DO I STOP LAG

I'm trying to record gameplay on my 2021-2022 (cant remember which) MacBook Air, and it WILL NOT STOP LAGGING. I have tried EVERYTHING. I've messed with the resolution, bitrate, the wizard thing, everything. I've been at this for hours and i'm sick and tired of it not working.
