Question / Help How do I stop hearing myself when OBS is open?

Google is not helping... Everytime I open OBS I hear myself through my main microphone (I tested, it really is this one not my webcam).

If I put OBS volume at 0 in windows it stops recording desktop audio all together, so then I only hear my mic.

I just want ti be able to record/stream both my game/desktop audio and my mic without hearing it myself, it wouldn't be too bad but in recording I hear both the actual mic and the voice I hear live, myself... so I hear myself twice in recording. Anyways, Did nobody ever have that problem before? Seriously? What should I do??

I FIXED IT! Just like the other guy did, completely uninstalling the program and reinstalling it fixed the problem.

Thanks anyways, but I thought that i'd come back and say this so that the people with this problem can find the fix.

Godspeed my friends.

Godspeed my friends.

I found out a way to do fix it without re-installing the application.

Turn on Audio Monitoring for Mic/Aux and Audio Input Capture (If you have that).
Then turn both off.

I'm not 100% sure that this will always work, but it did work for me. :D

If this doesn't work, then try re-installing the program. Good luck!

This is what the fix was for me:

Windows Settings, Sound Control Panel, Recording tab, Highlight Mic, Properties, Advanced
Uncheck the "Allow application to take exclusive control"
I think mine got rechecked in an update or something, because I have actively disabled it before
Hope this helps!
