hey, I'm new to the whole forums thing so idk what the manners of this are but basically, I'm running linux mint on my Thinkpad W540 and i am using OBS 30 system package and the video encoder is set to software encoder, and when i set it to NVENC it gives this.

Screenshot from 2025-05-26 08-56-59.png

Device-2: NVIDIA GK107GLM [Quadro K1100M] vendor: Lenovo driver: nvidia v: 470.256.02 arch: Kepler pcie: speed: 5 GT/s lanes: 16 ports: active: none

but i have the latest nvidia driver for my graphics card i believe and its still giving me that error but i still get the options and also i saw a forum on this with a guy who also had the same laptop with the same graphics card in here https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/getting-nvidia-k1100m-quadro-to-1080p-60fps.133518/

and it showed a picture of them running NEVNC in output. though it was windows 10 but that leads me to believe that there is a way to make it run on linux as well so please help me out. I'll provide more info if needed. Thanks

Yeah.. that was 5 years ago. For Linux NVENC OBS 31 requires driver version 550 or higher.

You would have to build old/specific versions of FFMPEG with older NVENC support und build (probably older version) of OBS to use that versions. May involve other dependencies too. Definitely not easy.
