How do i get my microphone to run through OBS

I currently use a laptop, a pioneer ddj sx2 unit and run through serato. I can get audio not a problem, but i cant seem to get a microphone to work. The mic is plugged into the mixer, i can hear through headphones and speakers but nothing comes out on obs when i am streaming, why is this and how do i fix this problem
