Hello, the question I have comes down to a hardware issue I think, but I don't know what I'm looking for, and I'm hoping someone here can at least point me in the right direction, because honestly I just don't know where else to ask.
I'm looking for a way to stream from multiple video sources at once, logically combining multiple videos into one split-screen image. I haven't bought all the needed equipment for this yet, but it would probably be coming from HDMI signals, although if I could find the right equipment for it I could use VGA or DVI instead.
I'm at a loss as to how I could do this. What kind of equipment would I even need to get to pull this off?
Is there a video capture device that accepts multiple live input streams? If there is, I can't seem to find one.
Is there a device that combines multiple inputs into one video (like a KVM switch) but that has an option to combine all of its inputs into a single splitscreen? If there is, I don't know what this would be called, so I can't even look for such a device.
I'm setting this all up for an event where I already have several computers set up on a LAN, and I want to be able to stream some of the games from several different computers instead of just one. I was about to buy an HDMI switch so I could have my stream switch between multiple computers at any given moment, but I would like to know if there is any option to have several of these computers on the stream at once, displayed in a splitscreen.
The only other idea I have for how this could be possible is to have each of these computers stream via OBS and then work some program that combines all of these streams into one, and then streams the final result. However these computers are not going to be powerful enough to smoothly run their game and stream at the same time, and I don't think I'm going to have the budget to buy that many powerful computers for this event just so I can do a splitscreen. (Plus I don't know if the network can even handle that many live streams all at once.) So really I am looking for a solution that involves combining the actual monitor signals.
