Question / Help How can I optimize my settings with OBS Studio?

Here is my rig:

FX 8350
Sapphire NITRO R9 380 4GB
16GB RAM
120 GB SSD
500 GB HDD
750GB HDD

I would like to record The Division in 1080p at 60 fps, or downscale to 720p at 60 fps.
Basically I just want the video to look good and smooth with no lag, if that's even possible.

Also, does recording for long periods of time affect the quality of the video? If so, how long should my clips be?

Here are the log files from the last four clips I recorded. All of theme either laggy or fuzzy quality.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

1280x720, 30 FPS, 2000 Kbps, use a single game capture source in your scene collection instead of adding one for every individual executable you want to hook. If a game is really light on CPU usage you can also look at adjusting your preset from veryfast to faster or maybe fast. This will increase the amount of work OBS makes your CPU do, so if you end up with performance problems set it back to veryfast.

Harold has gave you the best settings to make a high quality local recording with the least CPU imapct. If you are losing frames ,even with these settings, then the CPU usage is too high ingame so there isn't enough CPU usage left for OBS to record.

Only choice is to downscale to 720p and/or lower the ingame graphics to free up the CPU

"Also, does recording for long periods of time affect the quality of the video? " No
