Question / Help How can I increase video quality with a remote guest ?

Hi everyone,

I know how to add a Skype, Zoom, etc. feed into OBS, video quality is really not that great.

Is there an alternative solution, in order to have my remote guest generate a video feed with high video quality (with smartphone instead of webcam for example)?

I found a solution, going through a virtual machine on AWS, but it's way too nerdy if I ask my guest to use this solution.
Furthermore, this solution implies to use Windows on a Mac. It's not really smooth operation at all...

Thank you for helping out

Sure, they can install Skype on their smartphone.

If you're using NDI to bring Skype video into OBS, the limiting factor on quality is not NDI or OBS, but Skype itself.

Not sure what the connection to "virtual machine on AWS is".

There's plenty of software other than Zoom and Skype.

Hi Narcogen,

Thanks for the reply.

Here is the video I was mentioning https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0SOYS6_Bnw

I've investigated further, and it seems getting a quality video feed is not that easy. Like you said, OBS is not the issue at all.

Maybe I'm looking it the wrong way, and I should figure out how my remote guest could record easily a video file locally.

For better video quality you need to have that kind of web camera. Buy a Logitech Web Camera and put resolution to 1080 px. This will give you best video quality with your participants using tools like Webex, Gomeetnow, Gotomeeting, R-HUB HD video conferencing servers.
