Live streaming is a uniquely text-oriented activity. I have a friend with dyslexia and I'd like to help them by changing the font used by OBS in the chat window to OpenDyslexic, as right now they struggle to keep up with what people are typing. I can't find a way to do this.
How can I change the font used for the Chat dock?

The Chat dock in OBS is typically a browser-based window pulling in the stream chat. You can replace the default Chat dock with a Custom Browser Dock and apply custom CSS to change the font to OpenDyslexic.

If your friend has enable BetterTTV on the Stream settings,
is as simple as selecting the chat options at the bottom of the chat dock, scroll down until you see the BetterTTV section and Set Font.
I guess if the font is installed on its computer then the font will be shown accordingly.
Of course, if the streaming service your friend is using isn't supported by BetterTTV, then you need to use the custom dock method.
