Question / Help HotKeys stopped working with an update of OBS

Anyone else having issues with hotkeys not working? They just stopped on my MacBook pro a couple of weeks ago when I updated my OBS to the latest version. I tried to roll back the update but HotKeys still not working.

Please ensure OBS has permissions to access your microphone & capture devices.

1) Select System Preferences from the Apple menu.
2) Click the icon labelled Security & Privacy.
3) Click the Privacy tab at the top.
4) In the lefthand column, click on 'Microphone', 'Camera', or 'Screen recording' to manage app permissions. There should also be one for Keyboard or similar, that one is used for hotkeys.
5) Tick the box for OBS

Thanks, Wizard for the tips but alas I had already done all this plus the Accessibility permission are also on. This is what has me scratching my head it will not allow the HotKeys to work for OBS.

Any other ideas?

Hmm, that's weird. Settings -> Advanced, near the bottom, you can choose when to automatically disable hotkeys (like when OBS is focused). What's that currently set to?

Sorry for the delay in response. It is set to Never Disable hotkeys.

I have Mac book pro and this has worked for me - open system preferences and go to Security & Privacy, select the privacy tab, scroll down to input monitoring, (keyboard picture) (click the lock if needed) and click the "+" button and it should open up the applications folder, scroll down and select OBS and click open, restart obs if needed and it should work now. Worked fine for me - hope this helps.

Just registered to say I am also having this issue. I've mapped a few simple hotkeys.

Permissions are enabled for Input Monitoring, Screen Recording, Microphone, and I even added Accessibility just in case.

Tried changing my keys and it looks like SHIFT + CMD modified hotkeys dont work but SHIFT + CMD + CTRL ones do?!

mine were working, then not. disabled and re-enabled Input Monitoring and they worked. now today, they don't work again. is this something I have to reset every time?

I'm having the same issue - I'm a university professor trying to record lectures for my students and at the moment I can't get it to work. I've removed and readded OBS to the list of devices allowed to receive keyboard input, etc. (I've done all the things suggested here) and nothing seems to be working. I just updated the program today after OBS crashed on my machine (Catalina).

I am having a similar issue. I can start recording using a hotkey but I can't pause it or stop it with hotkeys. This issue started with today's update.

Same issue here. I'm producing and hosting a jazz festival this weekend. I lost hotkeys in the middle of one set. Had to poke around with the mouse to get some graphics up during the show. After the set, I shut OBS down, and it was fine for the next set.

MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013,
2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
MacOS Catalina 10.15.4
OBS Studio 25.0.8 (64 bit)

Absolutely not a techie but had the same problem. I hit the refresh button to the right of the hotkey and it now works fine!

Same problem here. I start a live stream and in the middle of it the hotkeys just stop working. Even though I have always had Hotkey Focus Behavior set to "Never disable hotkeys" that setting doesn't seem to work. For some reason the hotkeys STILL become disabled. And in the middle of a live stream, I do not have the option to just shut down and restart OBS. I am using a bluetooth keyboard. But even tried using the keyboard on my 2019 16' MBP and hotkeys don't work there either. Would someone PLEASE FIX THIS!!

Same issue for me. I've been setting up a 2nd machine (Macbook Pro as per my signature) with an exact copy of my OBS setup on my iMac (as per my signature) and trying to get hot keys working to manually change images in an Image Slide Show. (The keys are [alt] + [left arrow] and [alt] + [right arrow]).

I imported my Scene Collection and Profile from my iMac which had no trouble with these Hot Keys. When i first tested them, they didn't work, so I set them again, they worked for a few minutes and then stopped. OBS restart didn't help. I've checked all permissions in Security Settings as per WizardCM's post, all correct.

Not sure if this is a related issue, but the slides I'm trying to change with the Hot Keys will not display in the desired order. I'm pointing OBS at a directory and the files have sequential numbers in the title (eg. /TWT14 Slides - 01 & TWT14 Slides - 02). The folder is sorted by Name. Again this works fine on my iMac. (I'll make another post for this issue).

Oddly I've just fired up OBS and now my Hot Keys are working fine, Macbook wasn't even restarted, just woken from sleep. I can't seem to get them NOT to work now! Very strange.
