I must be doing something wrong. Can someone please explain to me why hotkeys won't work. I will explain what I want to do, and what I tried, and hopefully someone has an answer for me.
What I am wanting to do:
I am using OBS to stream hockey games live on YoutTube. Between periods I want to start a source with a hotkey so I don't have to move the mouse and select it. I am busy also controlling the camera, scorebug overlay, and sometime commentating. I was hoping hotkeys would help me in making my job easier. I have other graphics I am wanting to use, I am just using the below as an example to hopefully get the rest to work.
Example source (how I set it up)
Scene: called Live
Source: called Zamboni Christmas
We have sponsors, and with Christmas just around the corner, I created an image in Canva of a Zamboni with the logos of our sponsors. I then downloaded an audio file from open source of a Christmas jingle. The image has a transparent background so you only see the Zamboni, and the live feed is still visible behind it.
The image I added as a Source in my Live Scene. Then I gave it a filter so It would move across the screen. I then added the jingle as a Media Source. I grouped these two together so they would play at the same time. (they do play when I manually start them which is what I want)
Next I opened File/Settings/Hotkeys, and found the Source under the Live section. I found the Show Zamboni Christmas, but it has a * beside it, and assigned the number 2 as my hotkey. (I noticed some items have * and some do not)
I applied my change, closed Settings, then tried my hotkey. It did not work.
What I also tried:
I also tried creating a new Scene called Zamboni Christmas Sponsors. Under this I added only two Sources, the image and music. I gave the image the same filter as I explained above.
Then I when back to live and added the Zamboni Christmas Sponsors Scene as a source.
I tried adding a hotkey to this and it did not work. This also had the * beside it.
I went back to hotkeys and under 'Switch to scene' (no *) under the new Zamboni Christmas Sponsors Scene, applied my changes, then closed settings.
I pressed the key that I selected and it switched scenes and ran what I wanted, but my live feed is now gone and only that Zamboni graphic with the music is playing with a black background.
Internet searches:
I attempted to use Google to find a solution, watch several videos on YouTube, and looked through the forum here (albeit not extensively as there is so much information), and could not find a solution. I fear what I want to do is not possible. Why do hotkey options with * not work, and if they don't work, why are they listed?
