Question / Help Hotkey to start timer

Is it possible to have a hotkey to start recording using the timer?
I have set the timer for x length, but when I use the hotkey I assigned to start recording it continues past the length of time I have set in the timer.
It appears that the hotkey to start recording is independent of the Start button in the timer, or am I missing something.

It works for me with hotkeys, if I enable "Enable recording timer every time" in the output timer config window. This is the switch that activates or deactivates the timer permanently. The Start/Stop button next to the setting is only a one-time thing.
