Hotkey scene selection

I use space bar to switch between selected screens. Occasionally however when this is pressed selected scene "greys out" and this scene always is selected when space bar is pressed even though a different scene was selected.
Only way have found to fix this is close and restart OBS, not ideal when streaming.
Any suggestions on what is happening and how to fix?
