Hi.

so im trying to set up my laptop as a streaming pc, it is an HP elitebook 850 g3. With Intel I5-6200U @ 2.3ghz and an Intel HD Graphics 520, and after what i have read that should be good enough to be used as a streaming rig. but when i start up OBS its always using 60-70% GPU,no matter what settings i put in obs. that can`t be right? i though when streaming it almost only use CPU. and the cpu usage is at 10-15%

any tips? for setting etc

Best regards Tezzin

Your GPU is in 2D Clock mode which will artificially inflate your GPU usage, my 1080 Ti will report up to 30% when I don't have anything running that triggers me to be in 3D clock mode, while gaming it drops down to 4%

Are you having lagged frame issues? If it is a streaming only PC to GPU usage won't mean much unless it is actually causing it to not render the frames fast enough.

Anyways, if you goto your Windows Power Plan settings, click Change Plan settings, Change Advanced Power Settings. Scroll down to Intel(R) Graphics Settings and change the Power Plan to Maximum Perforamance

You know what i am having a similar issue. 20 - 30% on just opening OBS Studio idle. Maybe i can get an answer here on how to disable 2D?

You mad bro? :) Thanks for the link. I don't have Intel Chip. I have an aging AMD card. I changed to High Performance. Not sure if it is working. But i did change the display capture to game capture. And it reduces the GPU fan and usage level considerably. I also tried windows capture, and it also reduces the usage and fan level somewhat. Not as much as the game capture though. But the game capture crap doesn't work. haha. It is all black. I'll figure it out somehow. Hey, it this thing starts working, it might save me some money on a new card.
