Hello all,
After a couple (a lot) of testes, I decide to clear all configuration and start a new fresh setup.
My experience:
OBS 19.0.2
Windows Server 2012 R2 "Azure - Basic A2 (2 cores, 3.5 GB memory)"
Close OBS
Open and clear all content in C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Roaming\obs-studio folder.
Open OBS
- A Popup appear asking me to run an Auto Configuration Wizard ( at this point my CPU point to 93.4% Usage, just for OBS64.exe)
- Wizard steps:
After all wizard thing I got , incredible +90% in CPU :(
It was very sad because, I am not streaming yet :( .. at this point some people will think.. WTF? Are you trying OBS in a Virtual Cloud Machine? Why not use my own PC right? I can explain :) My idea is create a online radio on Youtube :)
so... after some research I saw a lot of guys talking about High CPU usage in last OBS update, but it was a little bit frustrating because I am not streaming yet ... I just open the software and get +90%...
So if it is not a streaming issue what is this?
Back to OBS Options and selecting "Video" tab, I found this BASE Resoltion 1366x768 and OUTPUT Resolution 607x341. Here, my first test was change Base Resolution to 1920x1080 and apply, NOT Happen :( , so I tried 1280x720 and apply, NOT Happen again :( ... more research and I found a page with Youtube Resolutions. I choose now 854x480 and apply, NOT Happen... push it more... 640x360 and apply.. at this point CPU down.. -70%
and.. drop even more after set Downscale to Bilinear and FPS to 24 ...
At this point I figured out that Video Settings, have a direct impact in CPU usage, even you are not streaming ..if I am not wrong "Output (Scaled) Resolution" precisely..
I think 640x360 is equivalent to 360p , wich is good for me for now ....
So ... If you is having issues with CPU High Usage .. try to check you Video settings...
