Okay, so i ordered a new mic and after i got it set up and i started testing it, OBS just isnt recording the audio from it. at first I thought I had a broken microphone, but after some testing my mic works with other apps—it's only OBS that it doesnt work with-- i have tried everything

Have you checked Operating System permissions for the mic?
Did you add the new mic as an Audio Source (sorry, obvious, but can't tell from your post what you have and have not tried)
