Help with OBS version 28.0.0 on macOS Monterey 12.6.6

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can potentially help me with a situation we're having with the OBS software.

Last year, we used OBS to livestream twice at a work conference and it worked brilliantly without issue. At the time, we had an external camera and an ethernet cable hooked up to MacBook Pro (2015) using macOS Monterey (not sure which version it was at the time, I recently upgraded it to 12.6.6).

We did a livestream test for our upcoming conference next week and all settings were in place from last year and everything was fine. However, as soon as I hit 'start streaming', I get a continuous 'disconnecting, reconnecting, disconnecting, reconnecting' error at the bottom left coroner of the page.

I have tried several solutions to fix this. I've tried upgrading the OBS software to the latest version the Mac can handle (which I believe is version 28.0.3 (64 bit)). I also ran an auto configuration wizard which seemed to allow me to stream for 10 seconds before disconnecting, which is already an improvement.

We thought it might have been down to the internet in our office as we were testing it on the Wifi and not an ethernet cable. However, I tested the OBS software on my much more modern MacBook Pro (2019) with just the built in camera on the same wifi and it worked. We cannot, however, use this laptop for the livestream as we don't have the right cables for it and using a connector/adaptor doesn't work (it only has two USB C ports and we need to be able to hookup a thunderbolt cable and ethernet cable directly to the laptop, not through an adapter).

The only thing I haven't tried is hooking the laptop I need to use up to an ethernet cable to see if that solves the problem, which I will do tomorrow when our IT guys are available. However, if it's not a network or ethernet cable issue, does anyone have any idea what might be causing it? I have a strong feeling it's to do with some sort of software compatibility but I just cannot figure it out. All the forums use very complicated language I can't work out (I am NOT an IT expert). The CPU is around 14% - 30% when I hit 'Start Streaming.'

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, TIA. Please be kind if I have overlooked something that might be incredibly obvious to you but not to me.
