Help with laggy OBS performance on older iMac

Hi there, I'm trying to record using my iPhone as video through Reincubate Camo Studio, and want to be able to react to/play YouTube videos. My audio sounds great in the recording but the video is atrocious and so incredibly laggy through OBS. Settings are already really low (resolution - base and scaled - are 1280x720, fps is 30), I've read dozens of posts about downgrading for CPU (I'm getting the "encoding overloaded" warning message); video encoder is set for x264 and using 18-26% CPU. iMac is older (late 2015) with Intel Core i5 and SSD. Not sure what else to do to improve overall performance. Any ideas for me?
