Ok when i record with Elgato software it looks fine but when I use OBS it starts off ok but then like lags/skips and I can't really find out why from lowing so much stuff to even dropping frames to 10 see if that was the problem it remains

I made short recording and got the log from said recording
it starts close to 30sec mark in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itETShChBmU&feature=youtu.be

Change output mode to simple. In the recording section do the following:

Recording quality: High quality, medium file size
Recording format: MP4
Encoder Software (x264)

Your AMD 8320 and GTX 1060 should be just fine with those settings. On a very old system I use from time to time, I have the same h/w pair.

Thank you so much this fixed it :D
Now I've moved on to testing streaming now sadly my net isn't the best and am thinking main problem was that moved from Roxio to this and that my net isn't handling the HDMI quality

So am going try out lowering those for the stream (and I do a recording so I can upload much nicer looking video after)

Video of the live stream if you want see it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HndPciM6xPw

Edit: Watching few parts in the recording seems "my" audio is just a dash off from the gameplay itself I think I recall some ppl when I was trying get my card started in 1st place said was somewhere in settings to set up delays so I'm going have look for those too

Audio go in the "Mixer" settings and play with the delay(sync offset) on where your audio track is being captured

Recording format: MP4
Nooooo! Never record to MP4. If OBS crashes or otherwise terminates unexpectedly the file will usually be lost. Record to FLV or MKV and remux afterwards if you require an MP4 container.

I wouldn't record to FLV if someone paid me. Having had FLV recordings totally trashed upon playback, I refuse to use it. Not only that, FLV is dead. Dead! The fork went through it last week when officially Adobe said it is no longer going to support it.

However, I've had zero problems with MP4. And if its that scary to record with it, then why bother even offering it as a recording option? LOL!
And if OBS gets to the point where it crashes and I lose my recording, guess what? I'm not using OBS and throwing it out the window.

So where's the logic in any of this.

Use what works (until it doesn't). LOL

The logic is that MP4 will be basically unreadable when it isn't finalized for w/e reason, not just obs crashes.
The absolutely safest way is just record to MKV and remux to MP4 afterwards, sure you can also record to FLV and remux after, but I personally prefer MKV.

FLV as a recording format is "dead", since there are way better alternatives. Though for streaming it's very much alive due to the fact that RTMP uses FLV.

Tell that to the kids on here who just spent days scripting and recording their presentations only to have OBS Studio crash and not being able to recover their work. These kids don't give a crap about the technical reasons. They want to know why OBS Studio didn't set the default to MKV in the first place....

Atticusmj: Your welcome. But follow Osiris advice and set to MKV recording format. You may need to convert from MKV if your distribution platform requires another format. For that, you can probably use Handbrake. If I remember, YouTube does accept MKV. But check to make sure.

The default is FLV (I don't know the reasoning behind that, other then historical reasons), FLV won't be corrupted when there is some interruption in the recording like MP4. So when it comes to that, it doesn't really matter if FLV or MKV is the default.

Macromedia was the originator of RTMP and used FLV

I don't know about the FLV corruption issue. Maybe on certain circumstances because in the past I've had FLV files that were incapable of being opened.

I looked up to see if YouTube supports MKV and they say they only supports those listed here:
https://support.google.com/youtube/troubleshooter/2888402?hl=en

However, I just did a 30 second recording in MKV, played it in VLC Player and uploaded it to YouTube and watched it perfectly fine.
