Question / Help help with avermedia and obs

i'll trying to connect avermedia live portable hd c875 and i downloaded the recent obs and i'm having trouble recording my screen, i have a hdmi cord hooked up to my tv and another one hooked to my loptop and another cord that looks like a usb plugged into the other side of my computer i just need help getting all of it to record

You need to make sure to download the drivers from the Avermedia website. A little card with the URL should have been in the box. Did you do that?
