Hi Everyone.
I have recently upgraded my system and am trying to get my streaming settings as good as i can.
I know i cant get perfect video with 6000 bitrate. But im just checking what the best thing is i can do to improve.

My Current RIG and OBS Settings.
i7 8700K @ 4.5GHZ
GTX 1070
16GB RAM
Play games @ 1440p downscaling in OBS to 900p (Both 16:9)
OBS.
x264
CBR on
6000 Bitrate
Keyframe = 2
Preset = Fast
Profile = High

Now some games that are super mad for CPU These settings will not work out. So i will use NVENC or set up a good 720p profile. However any game that does not use 50% or more of my CPU i can use these settings without bottlenecking the CPU or dropping frames.

Some games look great. Example.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/307156099

But some others do not. (Mainly games high in Vegetation) Example
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/307158256

I have not created a bottle neck both these games are using the same settings and bitrate in OBS.
And neither of them are close to bottlenecking the CPU.

Is it just the way of it that vegetation looks like ass no matter what.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks :) Steve

Ok so i though id share my results. 3 days of meddling around.
And i hope it helps someone else.

Scaling to 1080p seems to work better. I just never thought id be able to achieve good 1080p I was wrong!

I have achieved really decent looking 1080p 30 fps on my setup.
After a lot of Testing.

My settings are.

6000 Bitrate
x264 CPU Encoding
2 Second Keyframe Interval
CPU Preset = Medium
Profile = Main.
Advanced Settings = (direct=none) without brackets.

Canvas = 2560x1440 This is the resolution i play at.
Output Resolution = 1920x1080
FPS = 30
Filter = Lanczos

Everything else is on default.
These settings average 35% - 45% CPU Usage (My hardware is posted above)

Results

PUBG

SUBNAUTICA

THINGS TO NOTE.

Watch your CPU usage and change your preset accordingly depending on the game.
If the game your playing has super high CPU usage (Over 40-50%) Id drop the preset. As you dont want to bottleneck the CPU this will cause performance issues.

Example Monster Hunter World uses around 60% of my CPU load so i have to drop the preset to veryfast.

And watch your temps. I have an AIO on my CPU so the hottest it gets is around 80C im ok with this i would not like it any higher.
(Do plan on getting a better cooler these Intel chips run hot!)

Hope this helps someone with a similar setup on a single PC.
