Question / Help Help me with my obs settings!

First of all I would like to say I greatly appreciate anyone who is going to take the time to try and help me out here as I have really been stressing over quality of my stream.

My pc specs -

Intel i5 4460 3.2ghz
evga gtx 960 2GB
8GB of hyperx fury RAM
samsung 850 evo ssd

My internet speed

download is 36mb/s
upload is 6.5mb/s

The main thing I am struggling with is to find the balance and the perfect settings for my particular computer as everyone has different computers. Everytime I set up my stream I say to myself yeah that looks ok but there is always those words hanging around in the back of my mind saying yes but what about if it could be better and you don't even know it.

So, I have tried both the x264 codec and the nvenc codec. I don't know much about this apart from the fact that x264 runs more off the cpu and the nvenc codec runs more off the gpu. What I would like to know is which codec would I be better off using, would you say my graphics card or cpu is more dominant in this field?

The next thing I am stressing about is bitrate, again I am very new to streaming and am not really sure what my perfect bitrate would be, what confuses me even more is when I am on the x264 setting my stream works better at 2500kb/s but when I am using the nvidia codec the stream works better at 3500kb/s. I thought that the bitrate was ONLY to do with your internet so why does the codec affect this or why does the bitrate affect the codec.

Another thing is the fps preset. I know that you are meant to stream at 720p as to stream at 1080p your would need monster internet. I don't know whether to try and stream at 30fps, 38fps, 48fps or 60fps, What do you think my pc could handle and does changing this put more stress on the cpu or gpu?

I have recent streams over on twitch.tv/gellistv so If you would like to go and take a look to see if you can identify any particular problems that would be great. One thing I am also quite confused about though is when people say 'streaming doesn't affect you fps much' in my case it does seem to affect my fps, is this because I am stressing my pc out too much? Does archiving the gameplay in twitch affect fps as its recording the gameplay at the same time?

Any comments will be greatly appreciated! I just need some help here to put my mind at rest.

NVENC has terrible quality per bitrate. It'll always look terrible compared to x264 at streaming bitrates.

38fps, 48fps
NEVER these. They reduce your quality and increase your cpu use for no real benefit for your viewers.

So should i stream at 30 or 60fps? What bitrate do you suggest using for the x264 codec?

If you don't care about viewer buffering and are streaming to twitch, use 720p30 or 720p60 at 3500. If you care about viewer buffering, stick to 720p30 at 2500

Going to BUMP this as I still haven't got some answers to my questions and can't find them on youtube videos. I would mainly like to know why people hate the nvenc codec so much, I watch a streamer who uses the codec at 3500 bitrate and his stream is perfectly smooth with a good picture and I tried the nvenc codec and my stream seems to look nice and run smoothly too. One of the main things I would also like to know is does using the nvidia codec affect in-game framerate. I play dayz on my stream so frames are very important and stable fps is something that is impossible so I would like maximal frames at all times.
