Help getting camera to work - MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6, Elgato Cam Link 4k and Canon M50

Good Evening everyone!

I am as fresh as one can be to OBS (and obviously this forum) as well as recording videos, so I will apologize ahead of time if this is either redundant or obvious to some of you experts in here. However I need some guidance.

The set up I have put together includes a 2011 iMac 27.5" on High Sierra 10.13.6 (it does not allow Mojave or any newer operating systems), and I have my Canon EOS M50 connected to it through an Elgato Cam Link 4k capture card. This seemed to be a very good set up until I realized the trouble I am having just to get video to work on OBS. The set up of a new Video Capture Device on OBS seems pretty simple and straightforward, but I realized soon that I would need something else to complement it that will allow me to begin recording.

I went to the elgato website to download at the OBS Link for Mac. However it requires a newer operating system on Mac that unfortunately I cannot install on this older Mac. I tried to see if the other softwares they have would work some how, but nothing. I downloaded Elgato Capture Card HD software, but it says that the capture card has to be connected to an USB 3 port, so that obviously means my Mac only has USB 2 Ports, like I said, this is all new to me lol.

Everything is leading me to having to purchase a new computer, but I am hoping one of you may have a solution for my issue that just might save me some money at this start up phase. Please help!

Thank you in advance!!!!!!

Which version of OBS are you running?

After a certain number (I'm using 24.0.6)....you do not need OBS Link, I think. I am using the Elegato HD60S+ capture device, and did not need OBS link. I just add a Video Capture Device...and the HD60S+ appears. I set the resolution and framerate...and away I go.

EDIT: Further research on the Elegato site says that the OBS Link is not necessary for the Cam Link device...see screen shot and the website: https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031363132-OBS-Link-Setup

Currently I am using OBS version 25.0.8.

Do you think it is because of the USB2 port?

I connected the Canon EOS M50 to the cam link 4k via a Micro HDMI to HDMI Cable and from there to the USB2 port on my 2011 iMac running MacOS High Sierra.
