Hello & though I have used OBS Studio for several years now I'm running into all sort of decoding issues. and if i make any changes to the settings that aren't "default' the videos will actually stop recording a few seconds in.

I have an RCA Cambio 2-in-1 laptop/tablet. but due to me having to use my warranty? I had to get another model..[same laptop line but different model/make] The newer cambio isn't working as the older one did.

I got my specs and wonder if anyone can help me find the best settings for my machine? I have tried lower settings etc. but if I mess with the settings any? the machine stops recoding and then i must reset it back to default.

My only issue with default is? I like recording in mp4. default is flv.

ok here are my machine specs.

RCA W101SA23T2

INTEL [R] ATOM [TM] X5 Z8350 CPU @ 144GHZ 1.44GHZ

INSTALLED MEM: 2.00GB

SYS TYPE: 32GB BIT OP SYS, X64 BASED PROSS

RUNNING WINDOWS 10 HOME 1809

Bottom line, though, is that this machine is not powerful enough to use with OBS (atom CPU).

It is NOT recommended to record directly in MP4; crashes, interruptions, or other problems with either OBS or your operating system will result in an unrecoverable file. You can record to FLV or MKV and remux to MP4 afterwards; OBS has this function built in.

Thanks. since it seems to atleast record? I ll keep it over ob flv since it will atleast record. some settings\files would record 25 secs and then stop. I can convert the videos. I hate my original cambio quit as obs recorded perfectly on it when i tweaked the settings some. this one i have to leave it on default install settings or it wont work at all.

MKV is way more reliable than MP4. If you MUST have MP4 for some kind of compatibility reasons, there's a tool called AVIDemux that is very easy to use and change an MKV into an MP4 without actually touching the video and audio. You can also use FFMPEG if you're familiar with it.

[edit] sorry you replied while I was typing. FLV works too, and AVIDemux will be able to change that to MP4 as well.

I also lowered my output to 480.. not high def but since im still old school with most of the gaming i record? it doesnt make a lot of difference on older ps1 games. Im sure the high def stuff will butchered though luckily for me? im not picky about this sort of things... im intending to get me a better machine in the near future :)

A PS1 has a low resolution anyway. You're welcome to capture it's original resolution, and people who watch it will upscale it to their screen size. If you scale it for them, during the recording, their image quality will be no different. There's no real solid and good benefit to upscaling during recording, that can't happen during viewing.
