Hello,
I am working on a multi-cam live streaming setup for onsite events. I'm not very familiar with how to do this most effectively. At a base level I understand that I need multiple transmitters to send the video streams from each camera to a receiver which then sends the video into a device like the Blackmagic Design ATEM HDMI switcher. Here's the issue, these wireless streaming devices are pretty expensive if you want a reliable one. Since I am being paid to do this work it is important that the system be as reliable as possible. It's not really possible to test it due to the fact that in a crowded room wireless may be affected by cellphones and such, so I just need to buy the one that "works" out of the box. Seemed pretty cut and dry, but in thinking this through I realized that most of these phones and tablets for Android are basically capable of doing what these A/V companies are charging an arm and a leg for. They're designed to work in crowded rooms, many have HDMI inputs, and they all have screens and Wi-Fi built in. So, while I haven't done a deep dive yet (I was hoping to get pointed in the right direction with this post) it seems like some combination of Android phones/tablets with HDMI inputs could be used to send live video signals to a laptop or base tablet running OBS that can then stream it live to Youtube.
Am I crazy in thinking that can be done this way? What do you think?
