The problem I have is I record the sessions, two tonight one around 7 1/2 min and one 35min long and while I was recording it was all running fine and smoothly no in game lag at all but when I went back to watch the recording it would freeze and lag a ton I tried looking up videos of how to fix it but the OBS in the video looks completely different from mine and so I tried to find a backup software and most of them talked about OBS and that it has no lag or freezing problems. I am very new to making recordings as in these 2 were the very first I have ever done if I need to I can put my system specs just let me know which parts are required and I can maybe if I figure out how, attach the recordings or a log file (where do I find those?). also I'm not very good with technological terms.

When you record, try these settings:

- Output Mode: simple
- Recording Path: Set to a drive and folder on the same computer you are running OBS on
- Recording Quality: High Quality, Medium File Size
- Recording Format: mp4
- Encoder: Software (x264)

Ok I tried them and it lags and freezes nonstop now. I did notice when I dropped down the game to end the recording it said something about an encoding overload but I don't know what that means.

For some reason Third Age Total War is getting rendering lag. You might try other means of capturing it, Window Capture instead of Game Capture for example.

ok I used window capture for third age and that worked fine and I went back and checked another game, recorded and the recording was fine with no lag. :)
