Hearing myself in OBS

I want to record, but OBS is playing back my voice through my speakers. I use a Focusrite scarlet solo, where all my audio goes through, restarting does nothing, I don't know what to do. the other threads I went through were also unhelpful... help?

It has to be obs, because other programs I use, like pro tools do not have this problem

Change that to Monitor Off.

If that doesn't fix it, then it's not OBS. See if Windows is monitoring it instead.

they are set to that, and in the settings, it is set to default, as there is no off option... where would I go in windows to stop the monitoring?

I keep thinking in terms of a professional rig, where the only things present are what's actually required to do the job. But I've tried to answer enough threads now where the problem turned out to be a forgotten toy, that I need to start considering that too.

Though I'm not sure how you'd forget that you added *that*. Seems like it ought to be obvious and recent. Did you really forget what you did last time you had the computer turned on? With a "pro mentality", I'm spending enough mental effort to think through all of the ramifications of what I'm doing, that I tend to remember.
