Question / Help Headset for Streaming Sports

I have been using OBS to stream sporting events onto a youtube channel. It is a small-time set up and we have been using usb headsets as our microphones for the play-by-play. Our issue is that while the microphones work great, we cannot hear ourselves through the headphones.

Is there a way to change a setting to fix that problem, or are their some different types of headsets that people have used that work well with the program that you can hear yourself when you are using the microphone? Any and all help is appreciated, thanks.

What you're looking for is audio monitoring. Unfortunately, unless your headset has it built-in, it's hard to get it working well with a USB headset; at the very least there's a processing delay between the mic audio being intaken by Windows, then played back to the headset (Sound->Recording Devices->[your headset], check Listen To This Device. Mic audio will be doubled on the Desktop device, so you'd want to mute your mic in OBS). The delay can very easily cause 'speechjamming' too, where if you hear your audio slightly too late, it'll make you stop talking or talk with extreme difficulty.

This is one of the big reasons most pro setups use XLR and hardware mixers; they allow live monitoring with zero delay, and allow the mic audio to remain separate from the Desktop audio channel.

A VERY small number of USB headsets have a Monitor feature though; long-shot, you can check if the headsets you use have it.
