Question / Help Having trouble with decent GPU and CPU - Could they be outdated?

Hello!


Recently I have been getting into H1Z1, I had played and streamed back in the day, but this was before they changed the entire game.

My computer specs are as listed :

Processor - AMD FX-8320 Eight-Core Processor, 3500 Mhz, 4 Core(s)

Motherboard - Gigabyte

Video Card - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (280x - doubledissipation to be exact made by AMD XFX)

RAM - Stealth 16GB

I am running on very low graphics, but have noticed my CPU usage goes from around 38% while not recording or streaming with both open to close to 100% when streaming. - Other games do not have the same effect.. I am just toggling very hard on H1Z1

Is it the case that I need to update my CPU, I suppose not, it is a decent CPU and also a decent GPU..

the other thing to note is that I CAN play the game on high or very high when not running OBS, what would you suggest I do, OBS pros?

AMD CPUs aren't that great at encoding.

I am becoming more and more aware of this, however, I don't believe the VCE plug in will work for my model. The 280x is still a powerful GPU, it's the CPU that's giving me the issues. Played h1z1 2 times after posting this and had steam up fps ticker up, needless to say on Ultra I was not going under 60 fps and did not feel any sluggishNess like I have with OBS open.

I am going to try this when I wake up, I'm curious as to if it will work, hopes are high, will report back later.

Alright, after installing I will doing a quick restart, FPS is staying in between 50-60 fps while streaming on high graphics in H1Z1 KOTK - This leads me to believe that if I go down to medium I may fix it for the most part. Here is my other situation now though, after doing a local recording and reviewing it looked really bad. I will also add in the log.

I was seeing some errors with Direct 11? Maybe this is a result of it not be compatible?

Any help would be super appreciated as I have trouble shooted this far on my own. <3

Seems as if DX11 is the source of my problem on Windows 7, is there a way to change to DX9? That is the stable fix, I will continue trying to find one.. Does anyone have any idea how to make this AMD framework stable on my rig?

@Xaymar Do you have a stable version for Windows 7 that eliminates the usage of DX11 and down scales to DX9 [I know this might be comical, but at this point I am reaching for anything]

Currently running newest release from Jan. 17th - possibly 1.4.3?

After update, I recommend to you to revert back to Direct3D 11 renderer at Setttings>Advanced. And you can try clear driver install (via DDU or so). VCE plugin v1.4.3.8 is latest for OBS Studio (v17.0.2).

Then post new log.

I have no idea, updated and cleared all previous drivers... - Still pushing errors, I will say, recording on Ultra was smooth.

The problem is if I can get the error fixed up it might end up making it even better, not to mention in one stream I can see one log going well over a gig if 10 minutes of recording was almost a 70mb word file.

Does anyone know why this would be happening? @Xaymar any tips dude?

You can start the encoding from the clear preset and scene collection. Just make new Profile and new Scene Collection in OBS Studio.

I would suggest to simply stream 720p30 with x264 instead of 720p60 its nothing new that fx8 AMD CPUs bend down with that kind of encoding load.

R9 280X is supported if you have that. Your issue looks more like the Windows 7 problem AMF has, so you should try changing the encoder settings (you'll need advanced output mode here) to use OpenGL or Host mode as the backend (Set View Mode to Advanced and they'll show up).
