having trouble w/streaming

Hi, I currently started streaming recently, and no matter what settings I use, my stream either lags or becomes grainy. My Wi-Fi isn't the greatest, so I've tried to use settings on 360p or lower, but if you can believe it, my stream still lags. It seems like no matter what settings I use, nothing works. I would just like some help to see what settings I can end up using for my streams.

My computer it set up like this:
Edition: Windows 10
Desktop: Dell G5 Gaming Desktop
Display resolution: 1920x1080
RAM: 16 GB
Processor: Intel Core i5-10400F, 2.90 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700

And my Wi-Fi is:
WiFi: Netgear Nighthawk

My Wi-Fi connection is wireless because the Wi-Fi isn't near my room, so I'm unable to use an Ethernet cable. I tried using a Wi-Fi USB adapter but it really didn't do anything.

I also use Streamlabs OBS or just OBS, but I prefer Streamlabs due to its simplicity, but I know that OBS uses less CPU than Streamlabs does. I've tried to use the automated tested settings, but those don't seem to really work either.

I have done the speedtest for my computer/Wi-Fi, and it told me that the upload speed was under 1.0 mbps. I know this means I would have to use lower settings, but like I said, they still don't work. I'm just confused as to why this isn't working and what I can do to better my streaming quality.

Temporarily move your computer so it's connected directly to your router via ethernet and then do a speed test. If you get a reasonable upload speed (5+ Mbps) then get a powerline network adapter.

hi, thank u for ur answer!! i tried this, but i still got an upload speed of under 1 mbps. the cable i'm using isn't old, or at least i dont think it is, because it's never been used and we've only had this Wi-Fi for about 1-2 years. what else should i do?
