Question / Help Have Desktop Audio at 100% volume?

Hi!

So it's kinda odd as i thought this was how it worked before,
basically when you record the Desktop Audio, i thought it ignored the global volume mixer(as long as they are 100% relative to the master).
So even if volume is 10%, it would still play as if it was 100% and the only thing that mattered was the actual volume of the application producing it.

But apparently that's not the case, either it was or never was.

I was wondering if it's possible to achieve this, as it becomes kinda odd when the audio is really low for others cause i play at low volume,
so they have to have 100% in order to have the same volume i have. It ends up being very messy, and just having a constant volume is much easier,
as then it's up to the user that playbacks to just set his volume accordingly,
and it makes all have the same level (at least if it's from the same application and you don't touch the audio settings).

As stated i thought this was how it worked, pretty certain of it, but then again my memory tricks me all the time.
I am sure it's grabbed via WASAPI, and it was ages ago i used that so i don't recall if it gave you the original audio, or the one altered after the master volume.

So if this can be achieved please do tell, hopefully i have just messed something up:)

Thanks!

I do this:

Install Voicemeeter.

Keep Windows desktop volume at 100%, with Voicemeeter as the default device.

Adjust OBS mixer for desired relative volume in stream/recording output.

Set desktop audio source in OBS to monitor and output.

Set OBS monitor output to the AUX output of Voicemeeter.

Route AUX channel of Voicemeeter to a hardware device.

Now you can adjust your own personal listening volume with the slider in Voicemeeter on the AUX input without affecting stream volume.
