I'm currently running a 2-PC streaming setup. My streaming PC is currently running the following specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 870 @ 2.93GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.9GHz
RAM: 4096MB RAM
HDD: WDC 285.5 GB
I currently do not have the budget to upgrade the CPU, as my plan is to upgrade my gaming PC to an i7 4790k down the line and simply take my i5 4670 from that and move it to the streaming PC, as it has a higher clock.
My question is whether or not an upgrade in RAM would provide a noticeable boost. This computer has the sole tasks of running OBS, a chat client, and on rare occasions running my voice chat client when playing console games. I know that the CPU has a direct effect on OBS performance, but would raising from 4 GB of RAM to about 12 GB have an impact on its performance, or allow me to push for higher quality at all? Or would I only get any benefit from additional RAM after I upgrade my CPU?
