Question / Help Green Bar in OBS, but no Audio on stream

HeyGuys,

I've encountered some strange problem.
When I'm streaming, sometimes OBS does not seem to send the audio by programs to the stream, but I do have the green bar showing up in OBS for Desktop sounds, indicating there are sounds to be heard for OBS.
After restarting OBS, the Audio works just fine.

When I tried to switch games today, OBS showed me the green bar, but no sound was to be heard on stream again, so I guess the problem is just with programs that I open after I opened OBS.

Log of that session: https://gist.github.com/539c84519a3cb890d41c17f0b8a4657f

Any tips and/or recommendations what could be wrong?

Thanks :)

From the log-file - your USB sound device were terminated and restarted (at least once). Look at Windows logs (Event Viewer) for details (about 16:51:48.621 by time stamp) - maybe there you can find the reason why it happens.

Oh, that was me trying to switch devices to see if it would help.. it didn't.

But from looking through the logs myself I found that it probably has something to do with the "Max audio buffering reached!" message.

I put another log here, where desktop sound didn't go through to the stream right from the beginning. Again the "Max audio buffering reached!" message.

Any insight on that maybe? Will check event logs anyways to see if something's there.

Now (v20.1.3), it is hard to figure out what source cause the most delay(buffered). Only the option is to remove them one by one (browser, media, capture sources). If you wish - make the Scene Collection duplicate and experiment a bit. Also, run the recording (encoder: Use stream encoder - this has almost no impact on performance) and check the file if the audio was interrupted during this session.

A quick Google pointed me in the direction that there might be some issue with timestamps, so I looked at the properties of my Desktop source and found the "Use device timestamp" checkbox to be checked.

Unchecked that, did a short test stream to another account with nothing open, started up spotify and it went right through to the stream, so it seems to have fixed it.

Will check back if it occurs again next "real" stream :D

Thanks though Suslik <3
