Question / Help Graphics card screencap quality can't be reproduced in OBS?

Hello,

Let me start off by apologizing in the event I missed a guide or earlier thread. I've tried to study the forums for a while but haven't found anything working for this "simple" question.

My graphics card is Radeon R9 390. It has ReLive as part of AMD software.
If i use the relive recording, i get crystal clear capture of audio and video for games. But this has major downsides - one, it doesn't seem to allow me to lock the recording to the application, so if i have anything that runs fullscreen and i click outside (i run dual monitors), it will record my desktop and i have to edit it out. It also has a little recording timer that i can't seem to hide at all times that i don't want in my video. And it will catch stray sounds being a desktop audio feed.

OBS on the other hand fixes many of those complaints - locks capture to application, has no artifacts (except ones i control) and has full audio capture control. Great. The problem? The quality is noticeably poor compared to the ReLive capture. The best i can decribe it is like using photoshop and running the screen through gaussian blur two times. I want the same sharp edge, HD image i get natively.

OBS allows me to choose between H264, x264, and quicksync, none of them seem to resolve this no matter what settings i tweak on advanced.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, or is this by nature impossible to replicate in the software?

edit: relive settings are "high", 60fps, AVC (only option)
