I always hate when I have to succumb and post for help, bc inevitably it means my question was answered elsewhere, and I just didn't find the answer, though I SWEAR I TRIED TO FIND IT.... but .gif is too short a term to search for. And "playback" brings back almost everything.
I WANT to have an animated .gif play ONE-TIME through, start to finish when I press a hotkey, then stop, and hide the source... so that I can hit the hotkey to play it again at a later, appropriate time. I also want make it smaller for this particular scene. Now, I see that there are options in the media source properties that seem like they should do that, but IF I RESIZE THE SOURCE, it plays once, then disappears (seemingly) forever showing/hiding the media source doesn't show anything at all, and the source doesn't deactivate/hide. It remains visible.
If I do NOT resize the source, the .gif will play start to finish just like I want, but does NOT deactivate/hide the source when playback is complete, Which means, I COULD go resize the .gif in ImageReady or something and have two differently sized sources for my various scenes, have multiple hotkeys for essentially the same thing, AND have to hit the hotkey twice when I need to play it again to deactivate/reactivate the media source, but that seems like the long way around to a simple solution that I am probably just not seeing.
Using Image source does not have all these options and while I can resize the source, and loop the playback and start/stop (via hotkey) the .gif at any time, there is no telling where the .gif is when playback begins, It could be beginning, middle, or end. I have no way to tell.
I'm not sure how the log could help, but I'm including it anyway, just like a good little stormtrooper. Thank you for your aid in advance, I really appreciate the work you do for surely not enough money.
