Hey folks of the OBS forum, I've got some issues I'm hoping you can help fix. I've been streaming for a few months and about a month ago I upgraded my Processor and GPU to get higher quality streams. Unfortunately I'm still getting the old "Encoding Overloaded" error on certain games when I stream. Games like Minecraft and Cubeworld are fine but anything more is basically a slideshow. I've got what I would consider a pretty good rig for streaming but I may be wrong can someone give me a hand?

Here's a test stream I did a little while ago where I cycle through Minecraft, Skyrim SE, Overwatch and 7 Days to Die. The first two are okay but Overwatch and 7 Days are pretty rough. https://www.twitch.tv/cosmicchris5/v/107035274

System specs are as follows:
  • CPU - i5 6600k @3.5 GHz
  • Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • Motherboard - Asus B150M-PLUS D3
  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB(2 x 4GB)
  • SSD - Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB
  • HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
  • GPU - Power Color R9 290 PCS+ 4GB
  • PSU - Thermaltake TR2 600w
Also here are screenshots of my OBS settings:

Please let me know if you need any more detail, I will be happy to provide.

Thank you for you help!

Remove "opencl=true" from your x264 options.

-Don't rescale output in output tab, you already do it in video tab which is better there is no need to do it in output tab.
-Uncheck custom buffer size.

If that doesn't work
-Lower bitrate to 3000 or 2500
and/or
-Change CPU preset to superfast
