Getting echo/feedback

I just set up a new computer with a fresh copy of obs. I have 3 scenes. Dslr, webcam and desktop screen capture. My microphone is plugged in to the dslr. So, for the webcam and desktop scenes, i added the dslr as a duplicate source. The dslr audio is the only audio not muted in each scene.

I'm trying to record a youtube video using my webcam and when i play back my recording. There is duplicate audio. To troubleshoot, I removed the desktop and dslr scenes and that solved the issue. I tried this again with the desktop scene. I removed the webcam and dslr scenes and the desktop scene no longer had feedback in the recording.

How am I getting audio from scenes that are not active?

There are global audio sources and scene specific audio source. Global audio sources are configured in Settings->Audio, while scene specific audio sources can be added manually by adding a "Audio input capture" source and "Audio output capture" source to a scene.

If you only want scene specific audio sources, make sure you set every source in Settings->Audio to "Disabled". May be you ignored this and kept the "default" entries.

To see what audio sources are actually there for any scene, look in the audio mixer dock. If there is a source you don't want and you didn't add explicitly as audio capture source, check the global audio sources in Settings->Audio. However, webcams (in general: "Video capture device" sources come with integrated audio and add themselves automatically to the audio mixer, even if you don't want their audio. In this case, mute them in the mixer. If your webcam also comes with an integrated mic, make sure you don't pick up audio twice, one through your external mic and one throug the webcam mic.
