Getting audio output from source

Hello,

I'm looking for a way to grab the audio output from a source in obs studio so that I would be able capture a few seconds to then convert it to an mp3. I looked around the API and these forums but nothing stood out.

Why do you need to grab output from an OBS source? Can you not just grab the output from the device directly?

I can grab it from the device directly just fine but I thought it might be more favorable to grab it via OBS in case the user had any filters applied or any other modifications.
