Gaming off the obs preview

So one concern I have is that Is gaming off the obs preview recommended. I'm planning on buying a capture card (evga xr1) and I intend on using it for my switch and I wonder if I can play using the capture card to the obs preview. One reason is I would rather use the obs preview then switch the input on my monitor and it allows me to share my 'gaming skills' to my friends on discord. And one concern is that would the obs preview add any input lag making it unbearable to play on. I don't mind if it adds 1ms of delay or something because that's unnoticeable but if it's something that's unplayable then I would like to know.

Thats right. Never play off the obs preview! Most capture cards have a pass-thru socket for that. You'll have an external monitor hooked up there, the capture card shows you the video content without any lag on that port. (the lag comes on the usb/pc-side)
