Hi
I am very new to recording, i am trying to record CSGO footage, not for any reason other than keeping memories. I have managed to get OBS to record and a fairly decent quality but when i am recording the game suffers. It plays like i am running low FPS but according to steam i am only running 10fps lower while recording. I game on a 144hz monitor and limit my fps to 170, when recording it drops to about 140/150 fps but it feels awful, more like 50fps.
I cant see any strain on the pc, cpu usage sits around 60/70%, gpu, memory, disk usage is all fine but as soon as i start recording it is very noticeable in game. The second i stop recording the game feels smooth again.
I have 2 gtx 970's, i run 4 monitors, 1 gpu runs my gaming monitor at 144hz, my 2nd gpu runs the other 3 monitors at 60hz (not SLI) so i use my 2nd gpu to handle OBS assuming it wouldnt impact the game too much.
I have been playing with OBS settings to see if i am just doing more than my pc can handle but even at an awful resolution downscale and like 10fps it still makes the game feel horrible.
I have settled at 720p, 30fps, 10k bitrate and i have no problem with the quality of the video, the stutter isnt apparent in the recording either.
I have tried game capture and window capture but neither make a difference, i cant use monitor capture because it just records my 3 other monitors and not the game.
I am at work now so can't post a log, i am sorry, just wondering if anyone can shed some light? It just seems strange that none of my monitoring software can show me any signs of my pc struggling but it just feels awful to play and on a game like csgo it makes a massive difference to my ability to play.
Hope this makes sense and please excuse if i am making myself sound like a complete idiot but i am about as new to this as could be.
Thanks
