game recording not working

as the title says, the game record option just won't show up for some reason. it has a little red dot in the corner when its first clicked on, but when I try and move the red dot to make the screen bigger, it just disappears.

that is the game capture / recording source, it is showing like that because OBS cannot connect to the source so it appears as a 0x0px source. the single box is actually all 8 of the anchor boxes you would normally see but they are all occupying the same location. double check your game source properties and maybe post a log.

before I do that, how do I post a log?
I think I gotta get it from the files but dont know where to find it in the files.

In OBS. Help -> Log Files -> Upload Current Log File

it appears that you are not the only person with this issue. on further review of the problem, I don't know what is happening. it appears that OBS is not reading the source. which is why the source appears the way it does in the preview window. i don't know if this is a bug or if i did something wrong when i was trying to test, but i see the same thing you and another user are experiencing.

edit: ok, i did a little more testing and actually downloaded a game (don't judge me) if i leave this as capture any full screen application it does not capture the game, but if i change it to capture specific window and tell it which one it worked properly.
