Question / Help Game lag while using OBS Studio

Hi guys,

I have recently started using OBS Studio to stream on Twitch but I am having a very annoying problem where when streaming I get game lag/fps drop in game even though OBS is only using between like 3% - 6% CPU usage with no frame drop in OBS. Yesterday I tried to stream ARK Survival Evolved and it was unplayable while streaming even on low settings, when I am not streaming however I can play ARK on Ultra with no problem what so ever. Even when playing CS:GO on low settings I get game lag while streaming but when not streaming can play on highest settings.

I am using the lowest 720p OBS settings possible without my stream being unwatchable so I do not understand what the heck is causing the problem.

Any ideas?

The log attached just shows the OBS app startup and shutdown therefore can you start a stream and stop it and upload that log.

pc spec seems fine so shouldn't have any issues streaming and gaming.

As you have a 1070 you could use Nvenc over h.264, its not as good for low bitrate but would be worth seeing if it still lags. if that fails can you post your obs steaming settings.

Yeah I do use Nvenc but havent seen any difference. I streamed overwatch the other day, played perfectly fine on ultra while streaming, now today I can barely play on low while streaming :/

I've been toying around recently and found that my logitech c920 can create some frame drops, have you tried turning off / taking the MS webcam out of the obs scene? i'm not saying this is the cause but worth a try.

Ok I'll check it tomorrow when I try and stream again, thanks
