Question / Help Game is choppy when OBS is open

I've had this problem for months, looked everywhere for a fix and nothing seems to work

If i open OBS it initially is fine then after a few minutes my game starts to become choppy and unplayable

Not even streaming/recording and my game says im at 200+ FPS but it feels like 20

im sorry if this question has been posted before

Do you put OBS on your 2nd monitor by chance? You have it connected to the built-in motherboard GPU instead of your NVIDIA GPU.

i have it on the same monitor i play fortnite on, and how would i go about changing that?

Move the cable from the motherboard's port to the NVIDIA card where your left monitor is connected.

Possibly, mixing two different GPUs is usually not a good idea.

i believe theres only one port for my gpu, because i moved my monitor to what i thought was the gpu but now my game looks bad

Your GPU should have several connections, eg:

You may need a different type of cable if both monitors are using HDMI though as only 1 HDMI is typical on modern GPUs.
