Question / Help Game FPS drops to 9-18 while OBS is open

It seems to happen every time I get a video card driver update but it's only OBS that causes it. When I open OBS the FPS of the game tanks, from 120 to 12. That is, until I loose focus of the game, then it goes to max FPS.... it's just when i have the window selected and try so use the game that FPS drops... so that's annoying. Changing from D3D11 to OpenGL gives me a bit more FPS but the stream quality is then broken (like all green with weird artifacting). I have tried to fix it all sorts of different ways but can't figure out what the problem is.

CPU and GPU usage are fine, actually with OBS open and in the game window the GPU and CPU usage drops dramatically. From 90% GPU to 7-30%, CPU doesn't drop as much (18% to 8%) but still, something is making the computer not use it's resources :(

Changed them back just in case, no joy.

Edit: I tend to run vsync off on all my games because I have a GSync monitor so vsync would sorta ruin the point of that :)

Which has lead me to finding the problem!

It's GSync! More specifically, GSync being applied to windowed applications... Duno why its also a particular issue with OBS and GSync when running a borderless window...... Time to see if Nvidia forums can help?

probably not...anything that messes with old good vsync is bad for stream/record
Looks like it has been an issue in the past and has been hotfixed before. I have had this issue pop up before and then it fixed itself so that makes sense if it was a GeForce hotfix.
