Question / Help Game doesn't lag or skip frames, but stream does

I have recently gotten into streaming, and I keep having the same issue no matter what settings I use in OBS. I'm trying to stream League and the game runs great, but my stream seems to freeze every 5 or so seconds.

me too, except i'm recording. I've spent 3 full days of research and nothing helps. i think it has something to do with the new 17.0.0 i've seen a lot of people have this problem recently.

i have no clue how to obtain a log file, can you help? i have no clue what my issue is.

You're definitely not having the same problem.

You need to use software low cpu use for your recording encoder. You're overloading your computer otherwise.

So I guess the solution for mine would be to lower the bitrate. I'll give that a try and report back with my findings.

Do you think my PC specs are fine?

@ReAid4 Settings - output, set your recording encoder to the one that says low cpu use in its description.

So i lowered it, and put same as stream and it still lagged. When i ended the recording it said i needed a faster encoder

this is NOT what I said to do.
I did NOT say to adjust quality.

I said to use the low cpu use encoder in the settings.

Change the quality back to indistinguishable.
Change the format to flv
Change the recording encoder to the one that has "low cpu use"

would mp4 work just as well?

No. MP4 will become unusable if it doesn't finalize properly.
FLV will only not have the correct length reported when you open it in a player.

i recorded with flv and i try opening the file and it opens as a black screen and last a couple seconds. the only way i could open it is with movie maker. is there anything certain i have to do to open the file?

Use good media players like VLC or Kodi to play flv files.

i opened it in vlc, and it still lagged like it normally did. It has this little note at the bottom.
