Question / Help Game crashes when streaming

Hi,

Im experiencing game crashes approx. 5 min into gameplay when I try to stream. When my game crashes I get a notification from my nvidea screen driver stating that it stoped working and has succesfully recovered. I tried to roll back my drivers to the 365.19 driverpack, but that didnt seem to make any diffrence.

Could It be because my Nvidea GTX 960 GPU simply cannot handle to stream and play Battlerite at the same time?

  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500
  • GPU: ASUS Strix GTX960
  • RAM: 2 x 8GB Crosshair DDR4
  • Motherboard: ASUS H110M-A

It's possible that your GPU is under too much strain, though it's interesting that it's causing a driver failure. What drivers have you tested on? 372.90? 368.81? 365.19?

Does this also happen on OBS Studio 0.16.2? What about OBS Studio 64-bit? Can you retest this on OBS Studio 0.16.2, 32-bit and 64-bit and post logs from those?

Does your driver crash if you're running Battlerite and OBS Studio, but not streaming? Does this happen if you disable the OBS Studio Preview?

Are you playing Battlerite fullscreen or windowed? Does it happen if you use whichever one you're not using now?

Does this also happen if you lower the graphics settings in Battlerite to minimum?

I've tried with the following screen drivers:
- 365.19
- 368.22
- 373.06

Im playing Battlerite on fullscreen mode, since it is not yet possible to play windowed mode.

I've updated my OBS Studio to 0.16.2 64-bit, updated my drivers to 373.06 and tried again.

If I play battlerite and have OBS Studieo 0.16.2 open but NOT streaming i have no problems what so ever

When I play Battlerite and stream on twitch using OBS Studio 0.16.2 and I DO stream then I can play for approx. 15min now before i get the same error "nvidea driver stoped working".

If I lower the graphics quality to "low" and I close all unessessary programs in the background i can stream forever without driver crashes. My stream does however crash and start again, but this time the error message comes from OBS studio itself. Maybe the log can identify the problem?

TL;DR
Lowering the graphics seems to stop the graphics card from crashing.
New problem has arrived: OBS studio 0.16.2 seems to stop streaming and gives me and error message saying that OBS has stopped, resumes streaming 20 seconds later without me doing anything?

Thanks for taking the time to experiment and answer those questions!

14:18:30.203: WriteN, RTMP send error 10054 (4097 bytes)

14:18:30.203: WriteN, RTMP send error 10038 (42 bytes)
This is an error from librtmp that I've seen, but don't understand. Maybe someone else can chime in?
