The goal is to have releases on a more-or-less monthly basis. That isn't a guaranteed release date, but given that 0.5.x was just released, I wouldn't start looking for another release for at least 3-4 weeks.
Workaround for game capture is to put the game in windowed mode, select the game windows, quit OBS, put the game back fullscreen and open OBS. Should work just fine although since it's alpha it could cause a crash here or there for some reason.
