Hello!
So my issue is quite an interesting one and I've come to a conclusion that Game Capture, as soon as it hooks into whatever game I am trying to capture, makes the game stutter/lag. The in-game framerate display says it's the same, however as soon as it does hook, the framerate *tanks* heavily for about 2 seconds. In the games I'm trying to capture (Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy, Half Life) I have set FPS limits to 125 and in the other 144.
For the record, this happens regardless if I'm recording or not. This lag is also obviously visible to some degree in the recording, it's like an ever so slightly stutter that causes 60fps to look not smooth.
I found 2 other forum posts with this similar issue, and one of them was satisfied enough to simply go Window Capture as that doesn't cause the same problems. And it's the same for me, Window Capture works flawlessly, there is no stuttering or lag of any kind, but it does cause some issues in the games I want to play since they don't have borderless windowed as a feature. However they didn't come to any conclusion why it happened to them.
My setup is as following:
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F GAMING
CPU: Intel i9-9900k
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB (2x16)
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080TI
Monitor: ASUS PG258Q (240Hz) + ASUS VG248QE (144Hz)
^ Yes, I have tried setting the 240Hz monitor to match my 2nd monitor at 144Hz, I have also tried setting the 240Hz one to 144 also and simply unplug my 2nd one, and nothing seems to matter.
I have also tried:
Updated Graphics Drivers
Disabling Preview (again this happens as soon as the game gets hooked even if the window isn't visible or is on the same main monitor.)
Changing Game Capture properties (Anti-Cheat, Limit Capture Framerate)
Changing Nvidia Control Panel settings (Refresh Rate set to what the monitor is set to, Vsync always off)
OBS Video resolution and FPS (went between 60 and 120 to see if it made any change at all)
Disabled Windows/Xbox DVR and the Game Mode
Disabled and even uninstalled GeForce Experience to make sure no overlay is on
Disabled Steam overlay
Ran OBS in administrator mode
Power settings are at High Performance
Tried OBS Classic with just Game Capture, same thing
No matter what I've tried it all results in the same lag as soon as whatever game gets hooked. GPU/CPU loads are not even remotely close to maxing. below 10% on both. I still find it interesting it *persists* even after OBS is closed, until I restart said game completely.
I attached current log if that's of any help, if it's an issue that the log can display that is. For now I can use Window Capture as a solution but I don't feel like Game Capture should cause these issues, and it would be awesome if anyone has any suggestion or have had this issue before.
