So i was searching how to seperate audio tracks in obs and everything worked but now i'm wondering how i can seperate my game from everything else. i'm not sure if i can seperate it once for one game and then obs does it automatically for every other one.

it would be cool if you could have a audio track where you can mute other tracks and it records everything but the muted ones.

i can't explain it well but i hope you know what i'm trying to say.

please tell me if there already is a way i can seperate my game from browser, discord and mic without messing with the sources every time i open a new game or if i'm just dumb.

thank you in advance

Use VB Cable, I highly recommend supporting them with a few bucks and getting the additional audio sources. If you need only one virtual audio source, you can get the free version.

-In Windows, you would set your primary playback device as your actual sound card you normally use
-Go into your Recording devices and enable "Listen to this device" on one of the virtual cables (let's say Cable A), making it play back through your primary playback device
-Set your game to play back through Cable A (you would need to do this for each game, since every game will want to output through your default Windows audio device by default)
-Add Cable A as an audio source in your OBS
-You can use Cable B for any other app and also add it as a separate audio source in OBS
-You can use CABLE Output (the "free" virtual cable you get without donating) for yet another app and add it as yet another audio source in OBS
-In the Advanced Audio Properties in OBS, you can select which tracks you want each of these audio sources to be included in. Check track 1+2 for Cable A, track 1+3 for Cable B, track 1+4 for CABLE Output, for example, and all 3 will output to your live stream on track 1, and then have separate tracks in your local recordings
-You can contribute another small donation for Cable C + D for 2 more audio sources you can use
