G-Sync passthrough is working on a regular capture card

TL;DR: My capture card from years ago with no G-Sync certification is apparently being able to read and pass the signal and I wanted to understand why.

Am I missing something? Is it normal that I can passthrough G-Sync in a non-certified capture card from years ago?

My setup is: Gaming PC === Magewell (Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus LT) card in Streaming PC === LG Oled C1 TV
All connected with HDMI cables.

The capture card is being able to pass G-Sync through to the TV, as proven by these two screenshots:
- TV reading the G-Sync signal: https://i.imgur.com/uwOwQ34.jpg
- Magewell with video feed and no screen tearing: https://i.imgur.com/GMIdeN1.png

The white bar on the left is RTSS's tearing detection OSD. If it's whole from top to bottom, means no tearing.
The green text in the corner is Nvidia Inspector overlay, it informs whether G-Sync is activated or not.
I kept the game limited to 60 with RTSS for framepacing reasons.
The one thing I had to do beforehand was loading the LG TV's EDID into the Magewell.

So my question is, what exactly makes a capture card G-Sync compatible? Is it hardware or software? If it's hardware, how is this possible?
